For those who don't make a habit of splashing out on expensive fragrances, one thing will be at the forefront of your mind when you do - how can I make it last all day?
I love perfume. I think it’s so cool to have a signature scent that adds to the ambiance of who you are, and one that people remember you by. Scent is the most powerful memory trigger. Just one small trace of a scent can take your mind right back to a specific place, event, person, or period of time.

It can be annoying if the bulk of your olfactory efforts are enjoyed by fellow commuters rather than colleagues or an after-work date. It turns out that there are areas on the body that are best for spritzing - and they are not always the places we expect.
1) HAIR
Your hair is actually one of the best places to spritz perfume because fragrances latch onto fibers, which is why the strands of your hair will carry the scent of perfume for a long-lasting effect. But will the alcohol in perfume dry out your hair? The alcohol in fragrance is similar to that in certain hair sprays which do tend to dry out the hair. To avoid any drying of the hair, the best way to apply fragrance to hair is to mist on a brush.
2) EARS
Spray your scent of choice behind the ear lobes - this area is a pulse point, where the body is warmer, which will serve to enhance the fragrance.
3) NECK
Maximize the power of your perfume by giving your collar bone and decolletage (neck, shoulders and back) a spritz. The dips in the bone structure will see perfume more likely to settle there, and the added bonus of wearing strap tops and plunging necklines means there's extra surface area to exude fragrance from.
Fragrance is a big NO for those with sensitive skin. But you can wear fragrance without applying it directly to your body. Try wearing a necklace or bracelet infused with scent.
4) BELLY BUTTON

Dabbing a small amount of perfume in the belly button is also a tip that actress Liv Tyler, 38, inherited from father Steve Tyler, 67.
She told Into The Gloss: 'I put little drops on my fingers and put some under my arms and in my belly button. My dad taught me that - if you put it where you heat up, the smell stays with you.
"Any area on your body that radiates heat will enhance a scent, and your belly button does just that," says an Expert.
5) INSIDE ELBOWS
Another pulse point is the inside of the elbows, which as well as emitting the enhanced fragrance, serves to slightly obscure the smell in the bends of the arms - perfect for longer-lasting diffusion.
6) BEHIND KNEES (for girls)
As well as being another area where veins rise close to the skin, the backs of the knees are warmer and softer, and therefore more likely to project the scent.
The area behind the knees are perfect for summer since they're exposed, emitting your fragrance of choice with every crossing and uncrossing of legs.
7) FEET (for girls)
An area of the body that is in perpetual motion, spraying calves and ankles with perfume is not only refreshing, but will helps to waft your fragrance, wherever you go. "Your ankles are always in motion, so it helps project the fragrance wherever you go," says an Expert.
8) CLOTHING
Apply your scent on your body before putting on your clothes, so that the fragrance can absorb into your skin. However, spritzing your wool and cashmere clothes with fragrance can help achieve a longer lasting scent, too.

P.S. Oily skin actually holds scent better than dry skin. So make sure to moisturize before applying your scent. Maximize the power of the perfume by ensuring skin is moisturized, as the more hydrated your skin is, the longer the fragrance will last.
After applying a fragrance, many people feel a need to rub it in in order to warm the skin or spread the scent. This is a big mistake! Rubbing a perfume breaks down its molecules, diminishing the scent into thin air.
